A joint operation by the Special Task Force (STF) of the state police and Baruipur Police led to the recovery of nearly ₹1 crore worth of illegal drugs and ₹26 lakh in cash from a house in Khodar Bazar, Mondal Para, Baruipur. The raid, which was conducted at around 6 AM, targeted a four-story building, owned by a homeopath. The first-floor apartment of the building had been rented out to Mokles Sheikh, a resident of Usthir, who had been living there with his wife and two children for over a year.
Authorities seized nearly one kilogram of heroin, valued at ₹1 crore, from Mokles' apartment. Along with the drugs, ₹26 lakh in cash was also found. Mokles Sheikh was arrested at the scene, as was his mother-in-law, Serina Bibi, who had reportedly assisted Mokles in his drug trafficking activities. Police sources indicated that Serina had been involved in transporting drugs for Mokles and was one of his key accomplices in the operation.
Mokles Sheikh operated a small shop in the locality, though he had largely kept a low profile in the community. Sources revealed that Mokles had been using the rented property as a base for his drug distribution network. The authorities confirmed that Mokles was not a newcomer to the drug trade, and investigations have suggested that the apartment had been a hub for trafficking activities for several months. Local police had received intelligence reports about the presence of drugs at the house, which ultimately led to the raid.
Mokles’ wife was not at home during the raid, and authorities are continuing efforts to locate her. The police have confirmed that she was not involved in the trafficking operation, though investigations are ongoing. The authorities have also stated that the drugs were being trafficked through a larger network, and further inquiries are underway to identify other individuals who may be linked to the operation. This raid forms part of the STF’s ongoing efforts to curb the drug trade in the region, with a focus on dismantling trafficking networks operating within local communities.
