Grandfather rapes class 9 neighbour, blackmailed her with intimate photos

A 9th-grade student from Sonarpur has accused her 52-year-old neighbor, Bapi Majumdar, of raping her and blackmailing her with secret photos. The victim, a minor girl, lived with her grandparents in the Sonarpur police station area. Majumdar, who owned an Android phone, allegedly took advantage of the victim's curiosity about the phone. He invited her to his house, where he sexually assaulted her and then secretly took intimate photos of her. The accused is said to have then threatened the victim, saying he would post the photos on social media unless she complied with his sexual demands.

According to police, the victim told her grandmother about the abuse. After being informed, the grandmother shared the matter with neighbors. When the neighbors confronted Majumdar, he reportedly confessed to the crime. The police were alerted, and Majumdar was arrested. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and Majumdar is currently in police custody. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are examining all available evidence.

Authorities have confirmed that Majumdar's phone contained the photographs of the victim, which he had used to blackmail her. The victim has been provided with necessary medical support, and her family is cooperating with the investigation. The police are also looking into whether Majumdar has been involved in similar incidents in the past. They have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to minors.
