The Madhyamik examination, conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE), started today across multiple centers in the state. More than 10 lakh students are appearing for the exams, which will continue until February 22, covering subjects including Bengali, English, Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Science, History, and Geography. Examination centers have implemented strict security measures, including CCTV surveillance, frisking at entry points, and restrictions on electronic devices.

At a school in Padmapukur, Kolkata Police Commissioner greeted students with roses as they arrived for their first paper. Additional police personnel have been deployed outside examination centers to manage traffic, prevent unauthorized gatherings, and ensure a smooth examination process. The board has instructed all centers to follow the official guidelines, including maintaining punctuality and preventing any malpractice. Students were seen entering exam halls well before the scheduled start time. The first day of the exam proceeded without major disruptions, with authorities monitoring the process closely.
