Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay has expressed his backing for the breach of privilege notice filed against opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari. The notice was filed in response to comments made by Adhikari, which were considered inappropriate by the ruling party. Chattopadhyay, while not issuing the notice himself, strongly supported the decision and confirmed that the remarks by Adhikari had insulted the government.
Chattopadhyay stated that the opposition leader’s actions violated parliamentary decorum, and emphasized that when the government speaks, it must be respected. He further highlighted that the remarks made by Adhikari were unprecedented in the history of the West Bengal Assembly, adding that the government felt humiliated by the comment.
