College security guard held over Kolkata student's alleged gang-rape case; 4th arrest so far
Rape convict Rajiv Ghosh has been sentenced to death in the sexual abuse case of a 7-month-old girl in Kolkata's Burtolla area. Bankshall court has sentenced Rajiv Ghosh to death for raping a seven-month-old child after picking him up from the footpath in the Sovabazar area.
On November 30, a couple living on the footpath reported the child missing at the Burtolla police station. Later, the child was rescued from the footpath. Police arrested the accused from Jhargram on December 4. The chargesheet was presented in court after 26 days.
The youth was identified from the footage of CCTV cameras installed on the road. On Monday, the court found him guilty. In the incident, the police registered a case under various sections including the POCSO Act.
The police presented a 13-page chargesheet in court, and based on this, the trial was conducted in the special POCSO court of Bankshall Court.
