A shootout broke out in Patna’s Kankarbagh area on Tuesday afternoon when four armed men opened fire near a house on Ram Lakhan Path around 2 PM. The suspects, reportedly involved in a property dispute, fired multiple rounds before taking refuge inside a nearby building. The gunfire triggered panic in the area, prompting an immediate police response.
As police teams arrived, the suspects barricaded themselves inside the house. A heavy security deployment, including personnel from multiple police stations and Bihar Police’s Special Task Force (STF), was made. Armed officers in bulletproof vests cordoned off the building and blocked all entry and exit points. A tense standoff followed, with security forces surrounding the area for several hours.
After extensive efforts, police managed to detain all four suspects. "With the help of teamwork and better strategy, we managed to nab all four suspects," Patna SSP Avkash Kumar stated. Authorities have started interrogating them and scanning CCTV footage from the area to gather more details. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Initial investigations suggest that the gunfire resulted from an ongoing land dispute between two parties, but police are verifying all angles. The surrounding buildings were searched, and security in the area was reinforced to prevent further incidents. The seized weapons and other evidence are being analyzed as part of the investigation.
Residents of Kankarbagh were alarmed by the sudden gunfire, with videos of the operation widely circulated online. The police have assured strict action against those involved and are continuing further investigations to determine if any additional individuals were connected to the incident.
