The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police, in collaboration with Jharkhand Police and Ranchi ATS, conducted a major operation and uncovered an illegal weapon manufacturing factory in the Jamua police station area of Giridih district. STF's DCP, IPS V. Solemn Neshakumar, informed about this operation on Monday. He stated that six people, including the factory owner, were arrested the previous day during the operation.
According to the officer, based on confidential information, a joint team raided a house in Chapriyaawan village of Giridih district, where a large-scale illegal weapon manufacturing operation was underway. This house belonged to Mohammad Dayamuddin, who was also the co-owner of the factory. During the raid, a total of six people, including five skilled craftsmen, were arrested. The police recovered ten semi-manufactured 7.65 mm illegal firearms, along with a lathe machine, two milling machines, a drilling machine, a grinding machine, a large quantity of iron rods, and numerous tools.
Among those arrested was the co-owner of the factory, Mohammad Dayamuddin (50), a resident of Chapriyaawan village in Giridih district. Other arrested individuals included Mohammad Shakeel (45), Mohammad Imran (30), Mohammad Afroz (21), Mohammad Sonu (28), all skilled in illegal weapon manufacturing, from Munger, Bihar. Additionally, Rupesh Sharma (24) was arrested, also from Munger, Bihar.
The local police have filed cases against the arrested individuals under the relevant sections, and further investigation is ongoing. The police are now working to trace the distribution network of the weapons made at this illegal factory and determine who else may be involved in this network.
