Speeding bike kills woman in Howrah; Locals protest alleged police inaction

A woman was killed after being hit by a speeding bike in Kadamtala under Bantra police station limits. The incident occurred late at night when Archana Dutta was returning home from a party. A biker, reportedly riding recklessly, lost control and hit her outside her residence. Locals rushed her to Howrah Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Following the accident, residents staged a protest, alleging police inaction and demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Protesters blocked roads, accusing authorities of not taking strict action against reckless driving in the area. The situation remained tense as locals urged officials to ensure justice for the victim.

Police assured that an investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to trace the biker. Officers at Bantra police station stated they are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses to identify the accused. Authorities have urged residents to maintain peace, assuring that necessary action will be taken as per the law.
