Mob attacks police during Naka checking over live streaming row

A violent clash broke out during a routine naka checking in Malda’s Mothabari on Monday, leaving Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rezaul Karim injured. The incident occurred at Geeta More when police were inspecting vehicles. A youth began recording a live video of the operation, leading to an argument with a civic volunteer who attempted to stop him. The dispute escalated as more locals gathered, alleging that police were using illegal vehicles and extorting money. The situation turned violent, resulting in a physical assault on the ASI.

To control the situation, police called for additional forces, but by then, the confrontation had intensified. Locals continued to protest, leading to a tense standoff. Law enforcement managed to disperse the crowd and took three individuals into custody for their involvement in the attack. The injured ASI was given medical attention, and police registered a case based on the incident. Authorities are investigating the matter and reviewing footage to identify others involved in the altercation.

Following the incident, security in the area has been tightened, and senior police officials have warned of strict action against those obstructing law enforcement duties.
