College security guard held over Kolkata student's alleged gang-rape case; 4th arrest so far
The Airport Police have arrested two individuals, Kiran and Hiran Chowdhury, for allegedly duping a man of ₹20 lakh by promising him a government job. The duo was apprehended from Bardhaman’s Poichur area and will be presented before the Barrackpore court today. The arrests follow a complaint filed by local youth Sintu Ghosh, who accused them of taking money in installments but failing to deliver the promised job.
According to police sources, the accused allegedly ran a job scam targeting unemployed youth. Ghosh paid them over time, expecting employment, but when nothing materialized, he approached the police. Investigators are now examining their financial transactions and previous activities to determine if more people were defrauded.
Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the scam. Authorities have urged job seekers to be cautious and verify employment offers through official channels. More details may emerge as the probe continues.
