Rakesh Tikait’s car collides with Nilgai in UP's Muzaffarnagar, escapes unhurt

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait’s car collided with a Nilgai near the Meerpur bypass in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the vehicle, triggering all eight airbags. Tikait, who was wearing a seatbelt, escaped unhurt. The accident occurred while he was traveling from Sisauli to Muzaffarnagar.

Upon receiving the news, Uttar Pradesh minister Kapil Dev Agarwal and Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha MP Harendra Singh Malik visited Tikait’s residence to check on him. Speaking after the incident, Tikait urged drivers to wear seatbelts, emphasizing their role in safety. Local authorities have noted a rise in animal collisions on highways and have advised caution for drivers traveling through such areas.

In a separate accident on Friday, a CNG car caught fire after hitting a tree in Muzaffarnagar’s Bhopa area, killing two individuals and severely injuring another. The vehicle lost control on the Bhokaheri-Baseda road and crashed into a tree, causing the CNG tank to explode. Firefighters controlled the blaze, but by then, two occupants—identified as Mainpal (35) and Rajiv alias Raju (30)—had succumbed to the fire. The injured individual, Sanjeet, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
