CM Mamata to personally donate ₹5 lakh 1 rupees to Jagannath Temple, golden broom to be bought
Bengal BJP’s leadership transition is underway, and amid the ongoing selection process for the new state president, Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari unexpectedly left for Delhi. His visit comes within 24 hours of the BJP core committee’s first-phase meeting in Kolkata, where discussions were held on the party’s organizational future. BJP insiders indicate that the new president’s name is likely to be announced before Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled visit to Kolkata on March 29.
Adhikari clarified that he is traveling to attend a meeting at Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar’s Delhi residence, where several BJP MPs will be present. When asked about the purpose of his visit, he stated, "There is a meeting at Sukanta Majumdar’s residence." However, his sudden departure has triggered speculation within party circles. It remains unclear whether he will hold discussions with senior central BJP leaders regarding the selection process or upcoming strategies for Bengal BJP.
With the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections approaching, the BJP is focusing on restructuring its leadership. The new state president will be responsible for leading the party’s campaign. Suvendu Adhikari, known for his strong influence in Bengal BJP, has not confirmed any meetings with Amit Shah, but his closeness to the Home Minister has fueled curiosity about possible high-level talks. BJP sources suggest the final decision on the new president is in its last stages, with the leadership aiming to strengthen the party’s position in the state.
