An unidentified body was found hanging from a tree near Dum Dum railway station on Tuesday morning, with locals claiming it had been there since 6 AM. However, a dispute over jurisdiction between Sinthi Police Station, Dum Dum GRP, and Dum Dum Police Station delayed its removal.
Residents alleged that despite informing the authorities, no police team took immediate action, leading to growing concerns in the area. Police officials present at the scene initially suspected suicide, but no confirmation was made regarding the cause of death.
Locals, however, did not rule out the possibility of foul play, stating that a thorough investigation was required.The identity of the deceased remains unknown, and officials stated that forensic and post-mortem examinations would determine the exact cause of death.
