The North 24 Parganas district unit of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged a protest outside the Barrackpore District Administrator’s office, demanding new industries in the state and a terror-free Barrackpore. Protesters blocked roads and staged a sit-in before a delegation submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Administrator and the Provident Fund (PF) officer.
The protest focused on five demands, including industrial development, employment opportunities, and security concerns. CITU leaders stated that if their demands were not met, they would escalate the movement in the coming days. They emphasized the need for immediate action from the authorities. The situation remains tense as protesters await a response from the administration.
