Samay Raina reschedules India tour amid India’s Got Latent controversy, assures ticket refunds

Comedian Samay Raina, who found himself in the midst of a public indecency controversy last month, has rescheduled his India tour, further delaying his return to the country. The comedian took to Instagram on Thursday, informing fans that his shows had been postponed and assuring them that ticket refunds would be processed soon.

In an Instagram Story, Raina wrote, "Hello guys, I'm rescheduling my India tour. You all will get refunds shortly, see you soon." His announcement comes amid ongoing legal scrutiny and public backlash over the India’s Got Latent controversy, which escalated after a controversial remark made by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia on Raina’s YouTube show.

The controversy erupted after a clip from Raina’s show surfaced online, in which Allahbadia asked an inappropriate question regarding parents and sex, sparking public outrage. The backlash led to multiple police complaints in Mumbai and Guwahati, prompting separate investigations by the Mumbai Cyber Cell and local authorities. An Assam Police team even visited Mumbai last month to coordinate with Maharashtra’s Cyber Cell regarding the case.

Following the outrage, Allahbadia issued a public apology, stating that his remark was insensitive and disrespectful. In an Instagram post, he expressed concerns over violent threats against him and his family, revealing that people had entered his mother’s clinic under false pretenses. He wrote, "I'm watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family. People have invaded my mother's clinic posing as patients."

Despite the threats, Allahbadia maintained his faith in India’s legal system, stating that he would cooperate fully with the authorities and would not succumb to pressure from those making violent threats. He affirmed, "I’m feeling scared, and I don’t know what to do. But I’m not running away. I have full faith in the police and the judicial system of India."

Meanwhile, Samay Raina remains outside India, reportedly avoiding legal proceedings related to the case. His continued absence has led to speculation about whether he will face questioning upon his return. The controversy remains one of the biggest in Indian digital entertainment, highlighting concerns over content moderation and legal accountability in online media.
