The 75-day-long ‘Sebaashray’ medical camp, launched by Trinamool Congress National General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee in Diamond Harbour, concluded on Thursday. According to data released by Banerjee’s office, the camp provided free medical services to 12,35,773 people, including those from other states. The initiative, which began on January 2, operated as a general camp for 70 days and a mega camp for five days, offering treatments for a range of ailments, including neurological and cardiac conditions.
The camp facilitated critical medical interventions, including the heart surgery of a nine-year-old child, the removal of a spinal tumor in a 21-year-old patient in Kolkata, and the treatment of a three-year-old with a complex neurological disorder in Bengaluru. Various medical specialists provided consultations, diagnostics, and treatments free of cost. Officials confirmed that services included neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and general healthcare, with advanced cases referred to major hospitals for surgery.
The large-scale camp aimed at providing accessible healthcare, with medical professionals attending to lakhs of patients over the 75-day period. While no official statement was released regarding future initiatives, Banerjee’s office reported that multiple serious cases were successfully treated through hospital referrals. Data from the camp also indicated a significant turnout of patients with chronic illnesses, many of whom received long-term treatment plans.
