Bengaluru woman drugs and murders husband with mother's help; Police arrest both

A shocking murder case has emerged from Bengaluru, where a 37-year-old real estate agent and loan consultant, Loknath Singh, was brutally killed. His wife, Yashaswini (21), and mother-in-law, Hema Bai (37), have been arrested for plotting and executing his murder. Investigators describe the case as a calculated act of betrayal, driven by marital and financial disputes.

The incident came to light on March 22 at 5:30 pm when police responded to an emergency call and discovered Loknath’s body in a car parked in an isolated location. His throat had been slit, initially suggesting a violent homicide. However, as investigators dug deeper, they uncovered a chilling conspiracy involving his wife and her mother.

Loknath and Yashaswini had been in a secret relationship for two years before marrying in December 2024 through a registered ceremony in Kunigal. However, the marriage was kept hidden from Yashaswini’s family, who strongly opposed it due to the significant age gap. Loknath, fearing backlash, left his wife at her parental home and did not inform her family about their marriage until recently.

The situation escalated two weeks ago when Yashaswini’s family discovered the truth. The revelation led to serious conflicts, accusations of infidelity, and discussions of divorce. According to police, Loknath began threatening his wife and mother-in-law, which pushed them to orchestrate his murder. They first spiked his food with sleeping pills, then lured him to Chikkabanavara, where they slit his throat inside his car before fleeing the scene.

The crime was uncovered when Loknath’s brother filed a missing complaint, prompting police to launch an investigation. As officers pieced together the evidence, they not only exposed the murder plot but also discovered that Loknath was under investigation for fraud by the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch.

West Division Additional Commissioner Vishal Kumar Bikash confirmed the arrests, stating, “Yashaswini and her mother Hema Bai have been arrested in connection with Loknath Singh’s murder. The deceased allegedly had an extramarital affair and had threatened his wife and mother-in-law. Fearing for their safety, they conspired to kill him.” The police have initiated further investigation into the case.
