South Bengal gets new rail connectivity: Purulia-Bankura-Howrah MEMU service inaugurated today
A bombing and firing incident took place late at night outside the Jagaddal office of BJP leader and former Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh. Despite multiple high-resolution CCTV cameras installed by the police in the area, unidentified assailants carried out the attack, leading to heightened security. A large police force from Jagaddal police station and Barrackpore Police Commissionerate has been deployed to control the situation. The police are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting an investigation to identify those involved.
At around 4 AM, Jagaddal police issued a notice to Arjun Singh via email and written communication, asking him to appear for questioning by 10 AM. Singh has refused to comply within the given time frame and has accused the police of bias. “Bombs and bullets were fired in front of the police, yet I am being summoned. The police are acting as Mamata Banerjee’s puppets. I demand that CCTV footage be made public,” he stated.
Following the incident, Singh has announced plans to file a counter FIR, alleging that the attack was politically motivated. The police continue to monitor the situation, and additional forces have been deployed to prevent further unrest. Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests or leads in the case, while political tensions remain high in the region.
