The bloodied body of a four-year-old child, Sheikh Ayush, was recovered from a bush in Howrah’s Domjur on Thursday afternoon. His hands and legs were tied, and his own garment was wrapped around his neck. Multiple injury marks and burn wounds were found on his body. Locals discovered him around 12 PM in Salap Danspara, hours after he was reported missing.
According to family members, Ayush went missing around 9:30 AM. His parents and neighbors searched the surrounding areas, and announcements were made at the local mosque. Despite efforts, there was no trace of the child until residents found his body in a secluded area. Witnesses stated that he was lying face down with visible signs of assault. The family immediately informed the police.
Local residents gathered at the spot, demanding immediate action. “His parents were preparing to send him to school when he went missing. This horrifying crime must not go unpunished,” said a local. Protests were staged as people urged authorities to arrest those responsible. The police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.
The body was sent to Domjur Hospital for post-mortem examination. Officials have confirmed that they are probing all possible angles, including personal enmity. As of now, no arrests have been made. Law enforcement officers are questioning locals and reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify any suspects.
