A disturbance broke out in Nowda, Murshidabad district, on Saturday night, causing minor damage to a few shops and vandalism in three betel farms. West Bengal Police immediately reached the spot and brought the situation under control. According to the police, two cases have been registered, and six people have been arrested in night-long raids. Further searches are ongoing to apprehend others involved in the incident.
In an official statement on X, West Bengal Police reiterated that the "strongest possible action" will be taken against anyone trying to disrupt peace and communal harmony. The statement also warned that "rumour-mongers trying to trigger communal discord shall also be sternly dealt with as per law." Police officials confirmed that law enforcement agencies are maintaining strict vigilance in the area to prevent any further disturbances.
