Tensions escalated in Malda as BJP State President and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar faced police resistance near Sadullapur while heading toward Mothabari. A large contingent of BJP leaders and workers attempted to march forward but were met with a police barricade, blocking their movement.
As the first barricade was breached, the police reinforced security with a stronger bamboo barricade, preventing the BJP convoy from proceeding further. This led to heated protests, with party workers lifting barricades, burning tires, and shouting slogans against the West Bengal government.
Addressing the agitated crowd, Sukanta Majumdar fiercely criticized the police and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing the administration of using force to suppress political opposition. He condemned the police action, alleging that it was a deliberate attempt to curb BJP’s democratic rights.
The BJP leader declared that the party would escalate its protest in response to the police action. He called for a mass gherao of the Malda district administrative office on April 11, warning that the agitation would intensify if the government continued to obstruct their political movements.
