A thief disguised as a civic volunteer committed a robbery at the residence of former Howrah councilor Riaz Ahmed in the Bhot Bagan area under Belur police station. The thief, wearing a civic volunteer uniform, entered the house and stole a fake civic police stand fan before fleeing the scene. Riaz Ahmed, a member of the Howrah Municipal Corporation’s administrative board, filed a complaint with the Belur police station immediately after the incident.
The Belur police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspect. The police are also gathering evidence and following leads to track down the thief. Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activity that may assist in the investigation.
