A 66-year-old man and his 53-year-old wife were found hanging in their apartment in Purba Jadavpur on Tuesday. Police discovered Dulal Pal’s body hanging from a ceiling fan in the dining hall, while Rekha Pal was found in the bedroom. A suicide note was recovered from the scene, though its contents have not been disclosed. At the time of the incident, the couple’s son and daughter-in-law were not present in the house.
The couple’s daughter has alleged that her brother and sister-in-law tortured their parents, leading to their deaths. She has filed a complaint, accusing them of either forcing suicide or committing murder. Police have registered a case and are questioning the family members. Statements from neighbors and relatives are being recorded to gather more details about the family dynamics.
Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem to confirm the cause of death. Forensic teams have examined the apartment, and the suicide note is being analyzed. Officials stated that further action will be taken based on forensic findings and medical reports. The investigation is ongoing.
