West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the Kalighat Skywalk on April 14, aiming to ease congestion near the Kalighat Temple, one of the state's most visited religious sites. The elevated walkway, designed to improve pedestrian movement, will feature multiple entry and exit points, shops, and security measures. The project, undertaken to enhance accessibility, is expected to benefit thousands of devotees and local businesses.
On April 28, Banerjee will inaugurate the Digha Jagannath Temple, modeled after the Jagannath Temple in Puri. Located in the coastal town of Digha, the temple has been constructed to attract pilgrims and tourists while adding to the region’s spiritual landscape. The structure, built with intricate architectural designs, will house deities and is expected to serve as a major religious destination in West Bengal.
Both projects are part of ongoing development efforts in urban infrastructure and tourism. The Kalighat Skywalk is designed to reduce traffic congestion and enhance safety, while the Digha Jagannath Temple aims to promote religious tourism in the coastal belt. These inaugurations follow multiple infrastructure initiatives undertaken across the state to improve public facilities and heritage sites.
