A woman in central Howrah has been accused of creating multiple fake social media profiles to distort and misrepresent images of local women, allegedly posting obscene content to defame them. Victims claim that despite repeated complaints to the police, no effective action has been taken, leaving them in distress. The accused continues to upload manipulated photos and derogatory posts targeting several women and their families under different aliases.
A fresh complaint has been lodged at Howrah police station, urging authorities to take immediate action against the accused. The victims allege that their previous reports went unresolved, allowing the harassment to persist. Some of the affected women have stated that they are living in constant fear due to the public nature of the posts and the lack of intervention. One of them warned that if the issue remains unaddressed, they might be forced to take extreme steps, including suicide.
Police officials confirmed receiving the latest complaint and assured that an investigation is underway. Authorities have urged women facing similar harassment to report such incidents immediately, emphasizing that legal action will be taken against those misusing social media to defame or threaten individuals.
