Murshidabad Violence: 22 arrested, internet snapped, fresh clashes break out
On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee shared a significant financial update, announcing that the state has registered higher GST growth than the national average in the 2024–25 financial year. According to her statement on social media, West Bengal's GST collection rose by 11.43%, surpassing the national growth rate of 9.44% by nearly 2%.
The state collected ₹4,808 crore more in GST this year compared to the previous one, a development Mamata Banerjee termed as a reflection of West Bengal’s internal financial strength and self-reliance. She credited this success to the Finance Department's consistent efforts and extended her heartfelt congratulations to all involved.
In a detailed post, the Chief Minister also highlighted growth in registration and stamp duty collections, where the state saw an increase of 60,000 registered deeds and a revenue boost of ₹1,908 crore — marking a remarkable 31.05% growth over the previous year.
“These numbers reflect the dynamism of our market,” she said, adding that the state administration is committed to fiscal discipline and streamlining finances for the welfare of the people.
Mamata Banerjee’s message was clear — West Bengal is actively working toward self-sufficiency in resource mobilization, reducing dependency on central allocations, and strengthening its economic base from within.
