All India Muslim Personal Law Board Calls for 'Lights Off' Protest Against Waqf Amendment Bill, Seeks Mamata Banerjee's Support.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced a nationwide 'lights off' program on April 30th to protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill. The organization has urged Muslims across the country to switch off lights in their homes and mosques as a symbolic demonstration against the legislation they deem unfavorable.

For the state of West Bengal, Qari Fazlur Rahman has been appointed as the coordinator for this protest. In a significant move, the AIMPLB has appealed to the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, seeking her support and cooperation in ensuring the success of the demonstration in the state.

The Waqf Amendment Bill has faced considerable opposition from various Muslim organizations, including the AIMPLB, who argue that it encroaches upon the autonomy of Waqf properties and could lead to their mismanagement. The 'lights off' program is intended to be a peaceful and collective expression of this dissent.
