Two minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted after being confined in a room in Chandrapalli, located in Kolkata’s Sarsuna area. According to police sources, the incident took place on Thursday night when the girls had gone out to play and went missing. After around an hour of search by their families, they were found inside a room.
The girls alleged that they were locked inside and sexually assaulted by two individuals identified as Biswajit alias Sukhen and Kalu. A complaint was filed at the Sarsuna police station. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Biswajit, a resident of Shashibhushan Road in Thakurpukur. A case was registered against him under Sections 8 and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The second accused, Kalu, has been absconding since the incident. Police have initiated a search operation to trace and arrest him. On Friday, Biswajit was produced before the court. Police have sought his custody for further investigation and questioning. No further official statements have been issued. The investigation is ongoing.
