A tragic turn in a teenage love triangle led to the death of a minor boy in the Bamangachi area of Liluah, Howrah on Sunday, sending shockwaves across the locality. The incident involved three teenagers, all reportedly under the age of 18, and stemmed from a past romantic relationship that spiraled into deadly violence.
According to the family of the deceased, the teenager had been in a relationship with a girl who previously dated another boy from the Fakirbagan area under the Golabari police station. This prior connection became the root cause of growing tension between the two boys, ultimately leading to the fatal confrontation.
Local sources reported that the situation escalated last Friday when the deceased teen visited his girlfriend in Bamangachhi, accompanied by a group of friends. There, he encountered the girl’s former boyfriend and his companions. A heated exchange quickly turned into a violent brawl. During the fight, the ex-boyfriend and his group allegedly assaulted the victim with bamboo sticks in the Golabari area, causing him serious head injuries.
The injured teenager was found in a bloodied state and rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries late on Saturday night, leaving his family and the community devastated. The victim's uncle accused the girl’s former boyfriend of plotting the attack. “He had planned to kill my nephew. He lured him there. We have filed a formal complaint,” he said.
Police from Liluah station have launched an investigation and are trying to determine if there was a motive beyond the love triangle. All the accused are currently absconding, and law enforcement is actively pursuing leads to trace them.
