Governor C.V. Anand Bose visited Murshidabad today to meet the people affected by the recent outbreak of violence. Amid heavy security, distressed locals poured out their fears and frustrations directly to the Governor, painting a grim picture of their ordeal.
During his visit, the Governor personally went to the houses of Hargovind Das and Chandan Das, both families bearing emotional scars from the violent incidents. In a gesture of support, he provided them with the phone number of the Raj Bhavan Peace Room, assuring that they could reach out for help whenever needed.
A shocking video from the interaction has surfaced, where victims can be heard narrating chilling details. They told the Governor, "That day we were told to take out those who have good girls in their homes. As long as the BSF is here, we feel safe. But they warned us, what will happen when the BSF leaves? The police will not be able to save us."
Further deepening the concerns, the victims alleged that during the violence, repeated calls to the police went unanswered. They claimed they tried calling the police for four hours without any response, and by night, police officials had even switched off their phones, leaving the vulnerable residents to fend for themselves.
Governor Bose listened patiently to each complaint and promised to escalate the matter to ensure justice. He reiterated his commitment to restoring peace and said that the administration would take strict action against those found guilty of negligence or complicity.
The Governor’s visit has brought the glaring lapses in policing to the forefront, and citizens are now awaiting whether any administrative or disciplinary actions will follow.
