Left gears up for massive brigade expectating of over 1 lakh people; 7 mega processions from Sealdah, Howrah

The preparations for the Brigade Inclusion rally, called by the Left Front, are nearly complete. Scheduled for Sunday, this massive gathering is expected to showcase the strength of the Left before the crucial 2026 assembly elections. With detailed planning in place, the party is banking on a turnout of over one lakh supporters to fill the iconic Brigade Parade Ground.

Seven grand processions will set out for Brigade — four from Sealdah and three from Howrah. These rallies are expected to converge in a display of unity and strength, carrying not just party workers but also common citizens who are dissatisfied with current issues such as the Waqf Amendment Act and the ongoing controversy over teachers' recruitment.

According to insiders, the Left Front may announce their next phase of movement regarding the Waqf Amendment Act directly from the Brigade stage. The pending matter of teachers' jobs, which has fueled considerable public anger, is also likely to be a key focus of future agitation strategy unveiled during this rally.

The leadership has been working overtime to ensure maximum participation. Special arrangements for transportation, coordination among different wings, and even cultural programs before the main speeches have been lined up to maintain momentum and engage the crowd.

Observers believe this Brigade Inclusion could serve as the first major push for the Left to reassert itself in Bengal’s political landscape. With the 2026 elections looming large, a successful show of strength here could provide a morale boost for cadres and send a strong message to rivals.

The Brigade ground has witnessed many historical rallies, but the Left hopes Sunday's inclusion will set a new tone — not just for opposition politics but for a larger social movement against current policies affecting education and minority rights.
