The simmering internal conflict within the Bengal BJP, often described as a 'civil war', has erupted fiercely once again, with prominent leader Dilip Ghosh issuing stark warnings against colleagues who joined the party from Trinamool Congress (TMC). Ghosh has threatened to expose alleged wrongdoings, escalating tensions significantly within the state unit.
In provocative statements, Ghosh declared he possesses knowledge about illicit activities involving party members, pointedly remarking, "I know everything about who sells stone idols and who digs sand mines." He ominously added that he intends to reveal this information, suggesting a deliberate move to unmask certain individuals within the party ranks.
This latest flare-up appears linked to recent events, particularly since Dilip Ghosh's visit to the Jagannath temple in Digha seemed to stir unrest. Responding to the charged atmosphere, BJP leader Arjun Singh, himself a former TMC member, launched an attack on Saturday. Singh alleged that Ziaurul Haque, an individual seen associating with Ghosh, is a close aide of notorious smuggler Barik Biswas, whom Singh further claimed is a disciple of TMC's controversial figure, Sheikh Shahjahan.
Reacting sharply on Sunday, Dilip Ghosh refuted Arjun Singh's allegations regarding Ziaurul Haque. Ghosh explained, "We recommend the names of prominent people in the society who are our acquaintances or supporters of the party for various committees. Ziaurul Haque is a member of the Disha Committee. I have known him for a long time. The Union Minister made him." He added a caveat, stating, "Now, who is he associated with, if he does anti-social work, he will be punished."
Turning the tables, Ghosh launched a direct counter-attack on Arjun Singh. He questioned Singh's knowledge of Barik Biswas's connections and then leveled a serious accusation, stating, "If I say that Arjun Singh is in touch with Lala (alleged coal mafia figure). He takes money regularly." Ghosh further referenced a past incident involving "Raju from Durgapur, who was shot and killed," suggesting Raju was associated with Singh's faction after joining the party. Ghosh vehemently denied having any personal links to any mafia and challenged his detractors to provide proof.
Concluding his sharp rejoinder, Dilip Ghosh issued a chilling warning, implying more damaging revelations are forthcoming. "I have just started," he declared. "After that, who drinks milk from black cows, who sells stone idols, who digs sand mines... All those who came from there (Trinamool) have brought baggage, burdens. I used to not say that until now. But this time..." His words served as a direct threat to unmask leaders who migrated from other parties, promising further turmoil within the Bengal BJP.
