All-party meeting on May 8, at 11 am to brief leaders on Operation Sindoor: Central Govt

The Government of India has called an all-party meeting at 11:00 AM on May 8 in the Parliament building to brief political leaders on Operation Sindoor and discuss national security developments. The decision follows a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and a Union Cabinet session chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today.

Senior government representatives including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju will attend the meeting. The agenda includes a detailed briefing on the objectives and outcomes of Operation Sindoor, a military operation reportedly targeting terror camps across the border. The meeting is aimed at informing opposition parties about the current situation and discussing the next course of action.

As a result of heightened alert following the operation, more than 200 flights have been cancelled nationwide. At least 18 airports, including Srinagar, have been temporarily shut for operations. Airlines have adjusted schedules due to precautionary restrictions, with one airline alone cancelling around 160 flights.

Cross-border hostilities have intensified. In Poonch, 10 civilians have been killed and 45 injured in shelling from across the Line of Control. A senior police official confirmed that evacuations are underway in affected areas, with many residents being moved to Surankote and nearby safe locations. Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, stated, “Pakistan reserves the right and will respond to this aggression at a time, place and means of our own choice.”
