'Cowards as a jackal': Pakistan MP slams Shehbaz for hiding during India's retaliation

As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate into open conflict, voices of dissent have erupted within Pakistan’s own Parliament. In a scathing speech, Pakistani Member of Parliament Shahid Ahmed Khattak launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, calling him a “jackal” and accusing him of cowardice in the face of India’s retaliation.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Khattak expressed outrage over what he called the Prime Minister’s “disappearance” after Indian forces launched precise counter-strikes under Operation Sindoor. "India entered our house and attacked, and the Prime Minister went into hiding,” he said, questioning why Shehbaz Sharif has remained silent even as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi leads strong military action.

Khattak went further, invoking the legacy of Tipu Sultan, saying, “If a lion leads an army of jackals, they fight like lions. But if a jackal leads lions, the whole army fights like jackals.” He accused PM Shehbaz of failing the nation and the armed forces by not taking a firm public stand.
