IPL 2025 to resume on May 17 with RCB vs KKR clash, final on June 3

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to resume on Saturday, May 17, with a high-voltage clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the decision in an official statement, marking the return of the tournament after a week-long suspension due to border tensions between India and Pakistan.

The BCCI stated that the decision to continue the tournament was taken "after extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all key stakeholders." The league will now feature 17 remaining matches, including two Sunday double-headers, and will be held across six venues—Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru.

The final has been scheduled for June 3, with Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator slated for May 29 and 30, respectively. Qualifier 2 will take place on June 1. However, playoff venues have not yet been disclosed. Notably, teams such as Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will not play at their home grounds, as the southern venues—Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mullanpur—are not included in the revised schedule.

CSK will play their last home game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Delhi on May 20, while SRH will face KKR at the same venue on May 25. Both these teams are no longer in playoff contention. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI)—who are still in the race for the playoffs—will play their final home game at the Wankhede Stadium on May 21 against Delhi Capitals (DC).

The previously abandoned match between PBKS and DC (originally scheduled for May 8) will now be replayed in Jaipur on May 24. PBKS will also play their remaining fixtures in Jaipur. With international cricket commitments looming, particularly the World Test Championship Final starting June 11, concerns remain over the availability of overseas players, especially from Australia and South Africa.
