Fake Aadhaar racket busted in Murshidabad; 2 held with printers, laptops, and forged cards

Two individuals were arrested from the Baromasia area under Sagarpara police station in Murshidabad district on charges of producing fake Aadhaar cards. The accused have been identified as Sanaullah Sheikh (32) and Anwar Rahman (30). The arrest took place during a police operation led by SI Serajus on the night of May 16, 2025, following specific information. The raid was conducted at 9:55 PM at a shop in Narsinghpur market.

During the search, conducted in the presence of local witnesses, the police seized two laptops, two Epson scanners, one Epson printer, two smartphones, four SIM cards, and three printed fake Aadhaar cards. According to police officials, all equipment used in the alleged production of fake identity documents was recovered from the premises.

In preliminary questioning, the arrested individuals reportedly confessed to creating fake Aadhaar cards with assistance from other associates. They claimed they charged ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 per fake card. Police stated that further investigation is underway to identify others involved and to trace the full extent of the operation.
