A major fire broke out on the fifth floor of the Krishna Building, a commercial property located near Back Bagan. The fire started due to a short circuit in an air conditioning unit, which caused multiple AC machines to catch fire one after another. Flames were seen coming from inside the building, prompting residents and office staff to evacuate immediately. The building houses several offices, but many were closed due to it being a Saturday.
Seven fire engines arrived promptly at the scene and worked for about an hour to bring the fire under control. Authorities confirmed that no one was trapped inside the building during the incident. The affected floor was largely damaged due to the fire, with several air conditioning units completely destroyed. The fire occurred close to the flyover adjacent to AJC Bose Road.
The cause of the fire was identified as an electrical short circuit in the air conditioning system. Fire officials managed to prevent the fire from spreading further within the building or to nearby structures. Emergency response teams carried out thorough checks to ensure the safety of the residents and office workers before allowing access back into the premises.
