South Bengal gets new rail connectivity: Purulia-Bankura-Howrah MEMU service inaugurated today
Gujarat Titans delivered a near-flawless performance to dismantle Delhi Capitals by 10 wickets and storm into the IPL 2025 Playoffs. The win didn’t just confirm GT’s qualification—it also sealed the playoff berths for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings.
Batting first, Delhi posted a challenging 199/3, thanks to a sensational unbeaten 112 from KL Rahul. But that masterclass was completely overshadowed by the dominance of Sai Sudharsan (108)* and *Shubman Gill (93)**, who stitched together an unbroken 205-run stand—the highest partnership in IPL 2025—to chase down the target with an over to spare.
The match was decisively won in the PowerPlay, where GT blazed away to 43 runs in the first three overs, compared to DC’s sluggish 28 in the first five. Sudharsan was aggressive from the start, smashing Axar Patel and T Natarajan to quickly seize momentum, while Gill initially played second fiddle before joining the assault.
In the middle overs, GT showed no signs of slowing down. Despite tight spells from spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam, the Titans' openers kept finding boundaries. Sudharsan brought up his fifty in 30 balls, while Gill’s composed aggression saw him reach his half-century with a crisp straight drive off Chameera.
As the finish line neared, the only question was which batter would reach his century first. Gill looked like the favorite with seven sixes to his name, but Sudharsan got there first, bringing up his second IPL hundred with a clean hit off Kuldeep. Together, the duo broke the record for most runs by an Indian pair in an IPL season, amassing over 750 runs.
KL Rahul's earlier effort had given DC hope. He anchored the innings superbly, scoring all across the wicket and finishing strong with a flurry of boundaries in the final overs. Despite his 112*, DC’s bowling without Mitchell Starc lacked bite and couldn’t contain the Gujarat openers.
With this dominant win, GT now sit at the top of the points table. Their next challenge will be at home against Lucknow Super Giants on May 22. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals face a must-win game against Mumbai Indians on May 21 to end their campaign on a high.
