Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is on a three-day official visit to North Bengal, which includes a stop at Siliguri. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari, who arrived in Bagdogra to attend a party event in Banarhat, Dooars, commented on her tour. He stated, “Just as the mothers and sisters of the hills say, ‘You have come to roam the hills,’ similarly, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has come to the hills to enjoy the changing weather.”
Suvendu Adhikari raised concerns about the security situation in West Bengal, citing a series of explosions across the state. He mentioned that jihadi groups are reportedly active and hiding in various locations within the state. According to him, the absence of barbed wire fencing along several border points has contributed to these security lapses.
Adhikari also alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress government provides protection to organizations such as the Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). He claimed that members of these groups have participated in public parades and suggested that it is possible some individuals affiliated with SIMI may be nominated to the Rajya Sabha under the current government.
