South Bengal gets new rail connectivity: Purulia-Bankura-Howrah MEMU service inaugurated today
A serious road accident occurred on the Ghatal-Chandrakona state highway in the Buripukur area under Kshirpai police station, West Midnapore district, involving two motorcycles. The motorcycles were traveling in opposite directions—one from Ghatal to Kshirpai and the other from Kshirpai to Ghatal. Four people were riding on the two bikes at the time of the collision.
The accident resulted in three deaths and left one person critically injured. Police and local residents immediately took the four injured individuals to Kshirpai hospital. Upon arrival, doctors declared three of them dead. The fourth person was in serious condition and was transferred to Ghatal sub-divisional hospital for further treatment. The names of the deceased have not been confirmed.
Preliminary information indicates that some of the victims were engaged in masonry work. Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision. The incident has raised concerns about road safety on the Ghatal-Chandrakona highway, a frequently used route in the district.
