A 19-year-old youth named Ritwik Mahto from Chiladag village in Angara block, Ranchi district, Jharkhand, died by suicide today. Ritwik had been experiencing mental stress and depression for some time. According to family members, the primary cause of his depression was unrequited love for a girl from the same village, who married someone else a few months ago.
Ritwik was reportedly undergoing treatment for depression but remained under significant emotional distress. This morning, he was found hanging in his room, having committed suicide by suicide by hanging. The family stated that the unfulfilled love and resulting mental pressure led to his decision. No other causes have been reported.
The local police arrived at the scene following the suicide report. Station In-Charge Heeralal Shah confirmed that Ritwik had been suffering from depression and that unrequited love was a major factor in the case. The police have taken possession of the body and begun further investigation to complete procedural formalities.
