At night, several unidentified flying objects were observed over multiple key locations in Kolkata, including the Eastern Army Headquarters at Vijay Durga, port areas, Hastings, Maidan, Victoria Memorial, and two tall buildings on Jawaharlal Nehru Road. These objects were seen flying at significant heights and for extended durations. Despite investigations continuing for days, officials have not confirmed whether these objects were drones or other aerial devices.
Police sources have indicated that the flying objects might be high-capacity drones, possibly of the DJI model commonly manufactured in China and used in civilian as well as military contexts. However, the investigating officers have not yet reached a definitive conclusion and are treating the objects as unidentified flying objects (UFOs) until further evidence is available. The police are conducting detailed inquiries to determine the origin, flight path, and purpose of these objects.
A senior officer at Kolkata Police Headquarters, Lalbazar, stated on Friday morning that no damage or complaints have been reported in connection with the sightings. The investigation remains ongoing with a focus on public safety and identifying the nature of these flying objects. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are working to resolve the case promptly.
