Actor Dino Morea was questioned by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police in connection with the Rs.65 crore Mithi river cleaning scam. His name reportedly came up during the investigation into the misappropriation of public funds meant for river cleaning and rejuvenation.
Morea appeared at the EOW office in the Mumbai Police Headquarters on Monday and was questioned for several hours. Investigators are looking into the role of contractors and individuals linked to the alleged diversion or misuse of funds sanctioned for the Mithi River project.
The case revolves around a massive Rs.65 crore budget allocated for environmental restoration and waste removal from the Mithi river, which flows through Mumbai. Officials suspect the funds were either siphoned off or grossly misused, and Morea is being questioned in connection with one of the entities allegedly involved.
