Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) held a high-level meeting today at its headquarters to review preparations for a possible increase in COVID-19 cases. The meeting was chaired by Mayor Council Member (Health) Atin Ghosh and attended by senior officials from KMC, health department officers, and representatives of related departments. The main agenda was to assess the current status of resources and plan future strategies to manage the situation effectively.
Discussions focused on the availability of key medical supplies such as oxygen, medicines, and isolation beds in hospitals, along with testing capacity and surveillance mechanisms. The officials reviewed stock levels at health centers and the capability of medical teams to respond swiftly. The need for enhanced monitoring of infection trends and timely testing was emphasized to ensure prompt detection of new cases.
Atin Ghosh instructed officials to keep ward-level medical teams on high alert to respond to any emergencies. He also directed that public awareness campaigns be intensified to help citizens recognize symptoms early and seek treatment without delay. It was decided to maintain adequate stocks of medicines and testing kits at all health centers and to activate mobile medical units when necessary to cover areas requiring immediate attention.
