At around 12:15 AM on Tuesday, Shalimar Railway Police (GRP) detained two men for suspicious activities at Shalimar railway station. During a search, officials recovered approximately 485.79 grams of gold jewelry from their bags, which included gold chains and lockets. The two individuals were traveling from Kolkata to Bihar at the time of the interception.
The arrested men have been identified as Suraj Kumar, 42, resident of Nehru Nagar, and Dheeraj Kumar, 28, resident of Mirganj, both from Bhojpur district in Bihar. According to Shalimar GRP officials, neither suspect could produce any valid documents related to the seized gold. The authorities have taken possession of the gold jewelry and initiated legal proceedings against the accused.
Preliminary investigations indicate the possibility of the suspects’ involvement with an inter-state gold smuggling gang. The case is under further inquiry by the railway police, who are examining the background and connections of the arrested individuals. The seized gold remains in custody as the investigation continues.
