Unemployed 2016 panel teachers detained at Hazra More by police while marching to Kalighat to meet CM

Teachers who lost their jobs because their names did not appear in the 2016 panel merit list gathered once again at Hazra More in Kolkata to protest. They demanded a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to address their employment issues. The group aimed to march towards Kalighat, the location of the Chief Minister’s office, to present their demands directly.

Kolkata Police intervened and prevented the teachers from proceeding to Kalighat. The police detained the protesting teachers for a short time and then escorted them back, effectively stopping the demonstration at Hazra More. No further action or violence was reported during the protest.

These teachers have been unemployed for several years following the 2016 panel results, and their repeated protests reflect ongoing demands for reinstatement. Authorities have not yet provided a permanent resolution to the issue, and the teachers continue to seek official recognition and reinstatement through such demonstrations.
