The Indian Embassy in Iran has raised a formal request with Tehran to urgently trace and ensure the safety of three Indian nationals who went missing in Iran earlier this month. The missing men, identified as Hushanpreet Singh from Sangrur, Jaspal Singh from SBS Nagar, and Amritpal Singh from Hoshiarpur, had reportedly traveled to Iran on May 1.
According to their families, all three had flown to Iran with the intention of being illegally routed to Australia through an agent. However, shortly after arriving in Tehran, they allegedly went missing and the families claim they received ransom demands of ₹1 crore for their release.
In a statement posted on X, the Indian Embassy confirmed it has taken up the matter strongly with Iranian authorities. It said officials are working closely with the families and keeping them informed of all developments.
The embassy has called on Iran to trace the missing Indians without delay and ensure their well-being, even as details surrounding the alleged abduction remain under investigation.
