28 Bangladeshi nationals, including women and children, arrested near Dinhata for illegal border crossing

Late last night, police in Dinhata arrested 28 Bangladeshi nationals near the Dinhata railway station area during routine night patrol. The group consisted of 11 men, 8 women, and 9 children. Initial inquiries revealed they had crossed into India illegally through the Kochbihar border region.

The detainees are currently under legal custody, and the police have initiated formal proceedings under immigration laws. Authorities are examining the details of their unauthorized entry and collecting information on whether any organized group was involved in facilitating their movement across the border.

The police continue to investigate the case to understand the full circumstances surrounding the crossing. Further actions will be determined based on ongoing inquiries and verification of the detainees’ backgrounds.
