An elderly woman, Kesari Devi, died after attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi's roadshow in Bihar’s Rohtas district on Friday. The cause of death is suspected to be heat exhaustion, worsened by her pre-existing health conditions and the extreme weather.
Her family said Kesari Devi was not in good health and had been advised against going to the event at Durga Deeh. However, she was determined to attend the Prime Minister’s rally and had obtained a pass to be at the venue.
After the roadshow, her condition rapidly deteriorated. She was rushed to a government hospital in Bikramganj, where doctors tried to stabilise her. Unfortunately, she passed away during treatment later that evening.
Authorities have sent her body to Sasaram for a post-mortem. Her family said they received a call from the administration around 5 pm informing them of her death.
