A raid was conducted on Saturday around 8:10 PM at 5, Biren Roy Road under Behala Police Station in Kolkata, targeting an illegal satta gambling operation. Two individuals were arrested from the spot—Somnath Nayek (39), son of Nigraj Nayek from Rasapunja under Bishnupur Police Station, and Ujjal Chakraborty (56), son of late Ardhendu Shekhar Chakraborty of Vivekananda Park under Haridevpur Police Station.
During the operation, officers seized various items linked to the gambling activity, including satta pads, writing materials, a calculator, and a total of ₹30,250 in cash described as "board money." Police confirmed that the location was being used for unauthorized gambling activities involving more individuals, who are currently under investigation.
A case has been registered at Behala Police Station under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Sections 3 and 4 of the West Bengal Gambling and Prize Competition Act. The arrested individuals remain in custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.
